M-best solutions for a class of fuzzy constraint satisfaction problems

چکیده
The article considers one of the possible generalizations of constraint satisfaction problems where relations are replaced by multivalued membership functions. In this case operations of disjunction and conjunction are replaced by maximum and minimum, and consistency of a solution becomes multivalued rather than binary. The article studies the problem of finding d most admissible solutions for a given d. A tractable subclass of these problems is defined by the concepts of invariants and polymorphisms similar to the classic constraint satisfaction approach. These concepts are adapted in two ways. Firstly, the correspondence of "invariant-polymorphism" is generalized to (min, max) semirings. Secondly, we consider non-uniform polymorphisms, where each variable has its own operator, in contrast to the case of one operator common for all variables. The article describes an algorithm that finds d most admissible solutions in polynomial time, provided that the problem is invariant with respect to some non-uniform majority operator. It is essential that this operator needs not to be known for the algorithm to work. Moreover, even a guarantee for the existence of such an operator is not necessary. The algorithm either finds the solution or discards the problem. The latter is possible only if the problem has no majority

Computing improved optimal solutions to max-min flexible constraint satisfaction problems
The formal framework for decision making in a fuzzy environment is based on a general maxmin, bottleneck-like optimization problem, proposed by Zadeh. It is also the basis for extending the constraint satisfaction paradigm of Artificial Intelligence to accommodating flexible or prioritized constraints. This paper surveys refinements of the ordering of solutions supplied by the max-min formulati...
متن کاملA New Method for Solving Constraint Satisfaction Problems
Many important problems in Artificial Intelligence can be defined as Constraint Satisfaction Problems (CSP). These types of problems are defined by a limited set of variables, each having a limited domain and a number of Constraints on the values of those variables (these problems are also called Consistent Labeling Problems (CLP), in which “Labeling means assigning a value to a variable.) Solu...

متن کاملFuzzy Temporal Constraint Networks for Clinical Information
Modeling the temporal information in the medical record is an important area of research. This paper describes an extension of TimeText, a temporal reasoning system designed to represent, extract, and reason about temporal information in clinical text, to include the use of fuzzy temporal constraints. The addition of fuzzy temporal constraints increases TimeTexts ability to handle uncertainty i...
متن کاملn Solving Fuzzy Constraint Satisfaction Problems with Genetic Algorithms
An attempt to solve fuzzy constraint satisfaction problems (FCSPs) with the use of genetic algorithms (GAS) is presented in the paper. A fuzzy relation that represents the degrees of Satisfaction of fuzzy constraints in a given FCSP is considered as an objective jimction of the respective unconstrained optimization problem. A solution of a FCSP such that all constraints are satisfied to the max...
